The Clerk’s Office has become aware of successful attempts by dishonest people to obtain money and personal identification from Hillsborough County citizens, such as Social Security numbers and dates of birth.
These individuals identify themselves falsely as members of law enforcement or Court officials, such as ‘Lieutenant’ or ‘Sergeant.'   They telephone people and inform them that they have a bench warrant for failing to report for jury duty and that they need to pay money immediately, such as $500, or more, in order to avoid getting arrested.

ALL CITIZENS, PLEASE NOTE:  It is the policy of the Clerk’s Office to notify jurors by MAIL concerning their duty services.  Jurors are NOT contacted by telephone or any other medium, including email or text messages.  Jury Services does NOT need your personal information, such as your Social Security number or date of birth.   Jury Services also does NOT require any money from you.
If you receive a call requesting personal information or money, immediately call the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office (813) 247-8000.
