The key to finding any document located in the public records is by the name of the individual or company and the year of recording or an approximate date of recording. If you do not know the date, you will have to decide on a range of years to search. The reason for this is that all our indexes are set up alphabetically by the year the document is recorded. The alphabetical index is created by compiling the names found on the document to create the index . Each name entry for a particular document in the index references the Official Record book and page assigned to that document. So to make your search productive, you will need the following information. The name(s) of the parties on the document. Approximate date of recording. Document type (i.e. Mortgage, Deed, Judgment) Brief legal description of the property and/or folio number (found on real estate tax bill). The results of the search will identify the Official Record Book and page containing the document you wish to view. Older Official Record Books are available on microfilm and the more recent books are available as digital images viewable via computer.
